A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on Friday to demand Bharat Ratna for Mahatma Gandhi. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court refused to direct the Central Government to confer Bharat Ratna on Mahatma Gandhi. During the hearing, the Supreme Court dismissed the petition. Chief Justice Bobde said that Mahatma Gandhi is the father of the nation. He is above the Bharat Ratna and doesn't need any official identification.

महात्मा गांधी को भारत रत्न देने की मांग को लेकर शुक्रवार को सुप्रीम कोर्ट में सुनवाई हुई। इस दौरान सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने महात्मा गांधी को भारत रत्न देने के लिए केंद्र सरकार को निर्देश देने से इनकार कर दिया। सुनवाई के दौरान सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने याचिका को खारिज कर दिया। चीफ जस्टिस बोबडे ने कहा कि महात्मा गांधी राष्ट्रपिता हैं। वो भारत रत्न से ऊपर हैं और बापू को किसी आधिकारिक पहचान की जरुरत नहीं है।
