However food companies jumped on the diet bandwagon and added high fructose corn syrup, sugar and emulsifying agents in place of the good substances to create an unnatural and ultimately unhealthy blend.

Number 2 – Stay away from Seitan. For those unfamiliar with it, Seitan is described as a vegetarian friendly meat substitute. However instead of being derived from soy, its actually made from wheat gluten, which is an allergenic protein, meaning that consuming high amounts may potentially lead to a severe gluten allergy or intolerance.

Number 1 – Steer clear of sugar sweetened drinks like soda or sports and energy beverages. Not only do they contribute to weight gain thanks to the empty calories, the sugar ridden drinks also lower good cholesterol and up your chances of getting heart disease by increasing triglyceride levels.
