ivor or ivor.e hogg - Maternal Musings.

Be not afraid there’s nought to fear. br The night is not thine enemy br So sleep my babe sleep peacefully. br Thou knowest well that I am near. br br Thou are the prize which I long sought. br A joy I thought denied to me br so I will guard the faithfully br against all harm of any sort. br br If thou shouldst stir I come to thee, br a cry will bring me to thy side. br The love I bear and cannot hide br I’m proud to display openly. br br I can forget my childless years br Now thou art here to comfort me. br I submit to thy tyrannies br thou rulest me with smiles and tears. br br Though all too quickly thou wilt grow. br Become a boy and then a man. br I must enjoy thee whilst I can. br Although I pray the years pass slow. br br At least for now thou needest me br thou art dependent on my care. br A burden which I gladly bear. br I am a mother finally. br br Thy sire is prouder far than I br accepts all credit as his due. br Asmost new fathers tend to do. br Thou art the apple of his eye. br br Thy coming was so long delayed. br We thought that we might never see br a babe to grace our nursery br Thou art the child for which we prayed br . br br Be not afraid sleep peacefully. br In thy cradle warm and dry br and I will sing a lullaby. br Watch over thee adoringly. br br 24-Mar-08br br ivor or ivor.
