She looked at him br Her face said 'I love you' br He rose his head br His eyes said 'goodbye' br He spoke so softly br He wanted her sorrow br 'I've packed my bags br I'm leaving tomorrow' br She begged and cried br He turned his back br 'How did this come? br Why must you go? ' br 'Persuade me so br I might stay br But nothing I know br Would you think that way' br 'Keep on dreaming br You said to me br And here I am br Setting you free' br 'I want to dream br To dream with you' br She said 'I'd love br This not be true' br He walked away br He closed the door br She sobbed so hard br Knees met the floor br Next day he left br He left for good br Not a word he said br Not a word he could br He seemed so cold br So cold inside br 'To be alone and old br Is how I shall die' br Not one 'goodbye' br No 'I love you' br Instead he left br She thought; 'how is this true? ' br She remembered his touch br So warm and gentle br She remembered his kisses br Passionately tender br She opened her eyes br Wiped away the tears br She slowly stood br To confront her fear br Into the kitchen br And to the drawer br She took out the knife br She closed the door br Closing her eyes br She swallowed hard br Clutching the knife br Beside her heart br Her mind was set br Her head was clear br The knife met the floor br There was no more fear br Could she have done it? br Did she or not? br Would she have done it? br Is she now lost? br No - still alive br His arms flew around her br She held him so tight br Holding so tender br 'I'm sorry' He said br 'I reaalise now br I could never leave you br No matter what or how' br She smiled and forgot br Everything that was bad br They'd never lost br The love they once had br And over my shoulder br Every morning I see br The purity of their love br The wind carries to me br And now I'm burdened br With this heavy weight of love br I could never be sure br Why and who I should trust br But one thing I know br One thing's still true br I can't go on loving br Go on loving you br br Friday 28th to the 29th of February 2008br br Emma Woodsbr br
