JAMES T. ADAIR - Yesterday We Listened To Heartbeats

She didn't look at me br as she said br 'I don't Love you' br because she didn't get her way br It hurt inside anyway br to hear her say br and that broken heart in me br that I try to keep tucked away br broke a little more br in ways impossible to convey br and I smiled as I said goodbye br as they were leaving anyway br I said, 'don't worry, that's OK' br 'you, don't have to love me' br I heard myself say br as my daughter and her little girl br reminded me br that forever silent I should stay br A man really doesn't have any say br regarded as a throw-away br But it hurts inside this empty Sunday br Little girls learn young how to get their way br But sadness falls on someone as it must br and it fell on me today br though the sun shines through the window br and softens through the sheers br my stomach feels so tight br and yet I can't let out the tears br and everything instead feels grey br I need someone warm to run to br but everyone has gone away br There's a football playoff about to start on TV br I close my heart lest it break inside of me br and watch them playbr br JAMES T.
