The song comes from the words of the liturgy at the pinnacle of the most awesome prayer both on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. It aspeaks of us being likened to sheep. Just as a shepard knows and shepards every one of his flock, so too does G-d know the intricacies of man and judges each one of us individually, and on this awesome day, will hopefully issue a decree for life for each one of our people.
