Patti Masterman - The Baby Leaped

Patti Masterman - The Baby Leaped

The baby leaped in her womb br At hearing those words- br And for joy, leaped br br Baby that was only a tadpole br Or a fish embryo by that stage br Baby that a man, would make br br A fetus, to complete us br Flying cherub with wings br Folded back into his shoulders br br From heaven's down he floated br Leaping into closed wombs br Now thundering open- into, he leaped br br Into history's gaping maw, br Never the same br Time leaped, and he sprang br br The clockspring uncoiled br The watch beginning br The bud of the branch starting to ripen br br He leaped for the pure joy br In his padded cell br Knowing his time was at hand.
