While I'm glad that I'm cold sober, br I'm smoking way too much, br So that's why I'll join Stoptober, br In fact, I mustn't budge! br With firm resolve till on the mend, br The days will soon pass by, br Smoke free, defiant to the end, br All I must do is try... br br I've been a smoker way too long, br I've seen them take their toll, br Yet all the while they did me wrong, br I simply lost control... br From five to ten, then more and more, br But just for habit's sake, br I was a sucker, that's for sure, br As all they did was take... br br And, man, each packet costs a lot, br Just think how much I'll save br And I'll improve what health I've got, br Denying what I crave... br If I stay strong instead of weak, br My future looks sublime, br The future me, that's what I seek, br The better me in time! br br br Denis Martindale, copyright September 2014.
