Oilibheir Alain Christie - Soldier's Suicide Note

Oilibheir Alain Christie - Soldier's Suicide Note

Little Eagle Looney McGowan wrote this poem and I recorded a reading of it for SoundCloud (I am an actor and I stopped writing poetry of my own long ago) . Then later I retrieved some footage on the net to 'dress' the audio track and uploaded it on YouTube. You can find the poem both on The Poetry of Little Eagle Looney McGowan and on Poetry Readings online: KiplingHugoYeatsVillon by Oliver Álain Christie. br br Mama I hope this letter finds you… br In the very best of health. br There ain't much good out here I do… br And even less I've felt br br But I've have learned a lot of truth br And I've tightened up my belt br Shot folks here till my hands are blue br Got a medal from the President. br br There's too many friends I've seen die br They say that makes me a man br I saw a guy who lost both legs cry br Just for tryin' to lend a hand. br br Y' know mama I keep wondering why br We kill them to make them understand br That America goes to war to destroy… br So peace reigns 'cross every land. br br Today we bombed another town br Burned it right down to the dust br A few little children just stood around br Too stunned to cry or fuss br br But our orders are to move on down br So they can't keep a track of us br Part of me I lost… i hadn't even found br And only dying squares it up. br br br https: www.youtube.
