Robert William Service - Stupidity

Robert William Service - Stupidity

Stupidity, woe's anodyne, br Be kind and comfort me in mine; br Smooth out the furrows of my brow, br Make me as carefree as a cow, br Content to sleep and eat and drink br And never think br br Stupidity, let me be blind br To all the ills of humankind; br Fill me with simple sentiment br To walk the way my father went; br School me to sweat with robot folk br Beneath the yoke. br br Stupidity, keep in their place br The moiling masses of my race, br And bid the lowly multitude br Be humble as a people should; br Learn us with patient hearts, I pray, br Lords to obey. br br Stupidity and Ignorance, br Be you our buffers 'mid mischance; br Endoctrine us to do your will, br And other stupid people kill; br Fool us with hope of Life to be, br Great god to whom we bow the knee, br --STUPIDITY.
