Reciting my Pater Noster br at the post of my bed br was not but a Vater Unser br as so many have said. br br How often we recite prayers we know br to beseech such things as rain or snow br and I do not even weiss br what is virtue or vice. br br That is what for us as Kinder br in our minds still lingers. br Such habits with us still linger. br Where is the good or the beauty? br Whether she be plain or hübsch? br And how could we resist her lips? br br What is it that we as Kinder br still find which with us linger. br br A simple Pater Noster br will always be a Vater Unser. br We recite the prayers we know br to beseech such things as rain or snow. br It matters not that we weiss, br what may be virtue or vice.
