Eddie Roa - Tagaytay Mornings

Bare feet on glistening wet grass br A chorus of leaves rustling, humming br Wake my soul from its stupor br br Black Labradors howling protest br Over the bread man’s honking horn br Stir my listless heart br br Snails hurrying to greet the worms br Pacing through slithery trails br Unravel my knotty sinews br br Zesty sparrows collecting by the gazebo br Quarreling over seeds in a frenzy br Remind me of God’s grace br br Frogs and turtles chatting by the pond br Placid water disturbed by their noise br Tell me that silence is a virtue br br Hungry blue birds avidly watching br Over tiny ripples made by wee fish br Warn me of the day’s perils br br Carillon ringing its morning tidings br Clangor against brassy chapel bells br Arouse my lust for life br br Evergreen giants brushing off br Wet mist from heavy shoulders br Teach me tolerance and forgiveness br br Spectacles, tableaux, and pageants br Greet the dawning of each day, br Mornings God has made, rejoice and be gladbr br Eddie Roabr br
