Eugene Field - To The Fountain Of Bandusia

Eugene Field - To The Fountain Of Bandusia

O fountain of Bandusia! br Whence crystal waters flow, br With garlands gay and wine I'll pay br The sacrifice I owe; br A sportive kid with budding horns br I have, whose crimson blood br Anon shall dye and sanctify br Thy cool and babbling flood. br br O fountain of Bandusia! br The Dog-star's hateful spell br No evil brings into the springs br That from thy bosom well; br Here oxen, wearied by the plow, br The roving cattle here br Hasten in quest of certain rest, br And quaff thy gracious cheer. br br O fountain of Bandusia! br Ennobled shalt thou be, br For I shall sing the joys that spring br Beneath yon ilex-tree. br Yes, fountain of Bandusia, br Posterity shall know br The cooling brooks that from thy nooks br Singing and dancing go.
