John F. McCullagh - The Challenger Seven

I remember when they waved goodbye, br and left the earth behind br A roar, then an explosion br Indelible in my mind. br br That crew was a mosaic br Of America that year; br White, Black Female, Asian br All represented here. br br There was a teacher on the flight br Her school kids looking on br How hard then to explain to them br That Mrs. McAuliffe’s gone. br br .Like Drake upon the Ocean br of an earlier place and time. br They died while on a mission br to expand the human mind. br br They waved goodbye that morning br Slipped the surly bonds of sod br And set out on their journey br To touch the face of God.br br John F.
