A friend died recently br Our hearts filled with remorse br Some may not understand br They’ll say, “He was just a horse” br br Broke his heart to sell Apache br But when Dad died he was forced br Three hundred and fifty dollars br “If you want just a horse” br br For my daughter, a new chapter br In her growing up course br Her heart and eyes burned bright br Yet, “he was just a horse” br br In the arena, through the poles br Riding natures own source br Mounted on her lithe steed br “Yes, he was just a horse” br br A queen in the parade br With a crown and sash, of course br Riding regally through the cheering crowd br Noble and proud, “but just a horse” br br In the corral or just around the pasture br Listening to her gentle discourse br Love applied with a curry brush br For an animal “who was just a horse” br br God created all the animals br Before he created man in due course br Gave humanity all his best br God’s own plan, but “never just a horse”br br Ron Secoybr br
