Siyabonga A Nxumalo - He Was There

Siyabonga A Nxumalo - He Was There

i saw his blood br on the street last night. br br i sorbed, thinking of br that black friday. br that took him away from us. br that brought end and begining. br br it brought end to his life. br life devoted to working br for his people. br life lived for other people. br life lived for a short while. br br it brought a begining to our lives. br lives lived without him. br lives lived crying for him. br lives lived with other people. br br his frail, lifeless body lay there. br his blood splashed on that tar road, br his eyes wide open but blind. br they could no longer see. br he could no longer breath. br br he was there, among them all. br he participated in the struggle, br he was a victim of apartheid br police, not once or twice. br br he was brutally asaulted, br like them all, br on numerous occasions. br br he carried machine guns, br with them. br he fired a few shots, br like them. br he was a freedom fighter, br like them. br br they are enjoying the br fruits of dermocracy. br they are sharing the br rewards of their hardwork. br br nothing comes our way, br nobody knows or remember him. br to them he never lived, br he never participated. br br I'm not bitter, br but that blood in my dream br reminded me that..... br HE WAS THERE..
