In a televised address, Chilean President Michele Bachelet announced plans to amend the 1981 Chilean constitution, a holdover from the Augusto Pinochet dictatorship. Bachelet pledged citizen participation in the constitutional reform but stopped short of calling for a constituent assembly to draft a new magna carta for the country. She also announced measures to combat corruption and campaign financing reforms.
