2015 is set to gain an extra second at 11.59 on June 30 to synchronize the world’s clocks with the Earth’s rotation which has slowed down. There are fears that this will wreak havoc on the the infrastructure of the internet as many websites reported problems the last time a leap second was introduced in 2012. Reddit, Yelp and Linkedin reported crashes and problems with the Linux operating system and programs written in Java.
