Tesla generated a net income of $21.9 million for the third quarter on record revenue of $2.3 billion, a 145 percent increase from the quarter prior. The electrical car company made he announcement Wednesday and it comes at a good time as CEO Elon Musk is seeking shareholder backing of a merger with solar power company SolarCity Corp.
