The Cauvery waters verdict delivered today by a three judge Bench of the Supreme Court of India. It is a crucial day for the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu as a lot would depend on this verdict. The verdict was pronounced by a Bench comprising Chief Justice of India, Dipak Misra, Justices Amitava Roy and Khanwilkar. Noting that Karnataka is "entitled to marginal relief," the Bench reduced the allocation for Tamil Nadu by 14.75 tmcft. The Bench also said that there is "no perversity" in tribunal's allocation of water to Tamil Nadu.
