Text-to-speech and speech-to-text options
are currently being tested for
Xbox Chat by Microsoft.
These options would increase the accessibility
of the popular gaming system.
They're being tested through
the Xbox Insider program.
When using the speech-to-text feature,
a window pops up and a transcription of
what users are either saying or typing appears.
This feature would allow hearing-impaired users
to be more involved with chat during game play.
The text-to-speech feature reads the text
of the chat aloud, and allows users to
pick among several different voices.
Microsoft has prioritized increased accessibility for the
Xbox gaming system since the beginning of this year
