Although cycling takes place on solid ground – even if it felt as if the riders were floating on water along the seafront in Cattolica, or in Grado – the sea is never too far away at the Giro d’Italia.
You can catch sight of it even atop the Apennines, you can feel it along the Navigli in Milan or the Murazzi in Turin, you can also imagine it in Cortina, with rivers flowing from the mountains all the way to the Adriatic Sea.

Benché il ciclismo sia uno sport eminentemente terrestre (anche se sul lungomare di Cattolica e a Grado non si sarebbe detto, con i corridori che a tratti sembravano fluttuare sull'acqua) al Giro d'Italia il mare non è mai troppo lontano.
Il mare si vede dalla cima degli Appennini, si respira nei navigli di Milano e ai murazzi di Torino, si immagina a Cortina grazie all'acqua che da lì scende fino all'Adriatico.
