इस वक्त पूरा उत्तर भारत ठंड से ठिठुर रहा है तो वहीं राजधानी की आबो-हवा काफी खराब है। आज भी दिल्ली का वायु गुणवत्ता सूचकांक 381 है, जो कि काफी खराब श्रेणी में आता है। वायु गुणवत्ता और मौसम पूर्वानुमान और अनुसंधान प्रणाली ने कहा है कि 4 जनवरी को दिल्ली में हल्की बारिश की आशंका है, अगर बारिश होती है तो प्रदूषण में कमी आएगी लेकिन इसमें ठंड काफी बढ़ जाएगी। दिल्ली केवल प्रदूषण की मार ही नहीं सह रहा है बल्कि राजधानी में आज घना कोहरा भी छाया हुआ है।
