As low wages may push more people towards the gig economy, the Human Resources Ministry is looking to revise minimum wages to ensure better take up of job opportunities prepared by the government.
Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan on Saturday (Feb 19) said the government was studying the possibility of increasing minimum wages which currently stood at RM1,200, to attract potential employees who otherwise may lean towards gig economy jobs or those that required them to work from home.
