A video posted on social media seems to show defiant Ukrainians singing and putting sand in sacks to create road blocks.
"I have never seen such unity before. Everyone is loading, everyone is doing their best. Lots of bags. Glory to Ukraine," one man was quoted as saying.
The crowd responds by chanting, "Glory to the heroes!" and "Glory to our nation!"
The BBC was unable to independently verify the footage, which was allegedly filmed in Kryvyi Rih - the birthplace of President Volodymyr Zelensky.
