Gorkha, Nepal Ice, Golden Tiger Beer, Everest, Iceberg, Kathmandu, Real Gold, Commando and Orangeboom too have fair market share. Nepali consumers of the beer enjoy varied tastes, numerous choices and healthy price for the beers. Kishor Bhattarai, General Manager, Sales & Marketing at Himalayan Brewery, confirms “The market has shifted to lesser priced brands and it has led to the leading breweries losing market share considerably.”br br The major players in the beer markets are handful though there are more than dozens of breweries. For a 500,000 cases a month market, the breweries monthly production varies 2500-100,000 cases, accordingly. br br The market leader Gorkha Brewery has, now, more than 65 percent of the market share though once it had the monopoly in the sector. The company, majority stake own by beer giant Carlsberg group, has top international brands in its catalogue of products- Carlsberg, Tuborg, San Miguel, Gorkha beer.br br Kathmandu, Iceberg, Commando beers are introduced in market by Himalayan Brewery one of the leading brewery in the market, claims it market share of more than 10 percent. Bhattarai added “HBL products have truly defined excellence of quality and has increased it’s overall sales magnificently.”br br “Nepal Ice beer is the market leader among domestic brands and equally preferred by foreign and domestic consumers. Nepal Ice Beer, the ace product of Sun Gold Brewery, is now also exported to the international markets like Japan, United Kingdom, Hong Kong and America” says the company in statement.
