Utah Bans Gender-Affirming Care , for Transgender Youth.
NPR reports that on Jan. 28, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox signed a bill that prevents transgender youth from getting gender-affirming health care.
The bill bans transgender surgery for youth
and prohibits hormone treatments for minors
who've not received a gender dysphoria diagnosis. .
In a statement, Cox said he believes
that it's important to pause , "these permanent and life-altering treatments for new patients until more and better research can help determine the long-term consequences.".
