Khaplu Valley, also known as Shyok Valley or Little Tibet, is the administrative capital of Ghanche district in Gilgit-Baltistan. It is situated along the Shyok River, a tributary of the Indus River, and lies at an altitude of about 2,600 meters above sea level. Khaplu Valley is the gateway to some of the most spectacular peaks and glaciers in the Karakoram range, such as Mashebrum, Gondogoro, Chogolisa, K-6, and K-7. It is also home to some of the oldest and most beautiful architectural monuments in the region, such as Khaplu Fort, Chaqchan Mosque, and Khaplu Khanqah.
