One of the biggest mistakes many people make is they do not eat all day, skip breakfast, skip lunch knowing there is the big holiday party. By the time you get there, you are going to be so overly hungry it is going to be hard to control the amount that you eat. So, if you are going to a party after work, three, four o'clock even, have a light snack, maybe an apple with a little bit of peanut butter or some vegetables with hummus. That way you do not go overly hungry. Take a small plate and choose a few of the appetizers or other food choices. Even if it s the desserts, choose a few that you really, really like with the idea of, I am going to get the best, I am going to leave the rest. Another tip is be aware of where you are holding your conversation. If you are standing next to the buffet table, or next to the o'duerves spread, you are much more likely to frequently reach over and indulge. So, carry on your conversation away from where the food is served and you are much less likely to overindulge. And then, also remember be careful with your alcohol because if you drink too much, you are likely to eat too much too.
