Three men in Newark, New Jersey were busted with vast amounts of stolen cooking oil.

Thieves… some of them go for things you would never expect. Take three men in Newark, New Jersey who were busted with vast amounts of stolen cooking oil.

Edward Hernandez, Jonathan Nunez and Steven Cruz were all caught in the same modified white cargo van. Cops were on the lookout for the vehicle because a report had come in regarding three suspects who had swiped cooking oil from the Dragonfly Restaurant on Edgar Road.

When officers stopped the vehicle, they immediately noticed a greasy residue covering the exterior; something that looked an awful lot like cooking oil.

They also couldn’t help but notice the telltale scent of cooking oil wafting from inside the van. Its safe to say police were sure they had the right guys.

A little further probing and their suspicions were confirmed. A compartment had been modified to accommodate 250 gallons of liquid. Hoses were attached along with a pump.

In that container they found 100 galloons of cooking oil with a value of over $200. The three males were arrested and charged with conspiracy and theft.
