Mujrim is a 1989 Indian Bollywood movie, directed by Umesh Mehra. The film stars Mithun Chakraborty, Madhuri Dixit and Nutan. It also stars Amrish Puri, Shakti Kapoor and Gulshan Grover in supporting roles. The film tells the story of Shankar (Mithun Chakraborty), who is regarded as a criminal by the society after being in jail for ten years since childhood.Shankar (Mithun Chakraborty) returns home to his mother Yashoda (Nutan), after serving his jail term for a crime he committed when he was a child. Yashoda makes him promise that he will tread on the path of truth and never give in to crime. But to save his mother on her death bed in hospital, in the need of treatment, Shankar strikes a crime deal for money. He saves his mother but Yashoda shuns him for the criminal he has become. In the world of crime, Shankar's roots start going deeper and he meets notorious smuggler Malik (Sharad Saxena) and his daugther Sonia (Madhuri Dixit). They join hands to smuggle gold controlled by the international criminal, Khan (Amrish Puri) . Nagrajan (Gulshan Grover) is another criminal who wants to shine in the world of crime. As Shankar escalates to power in the underworld, the lives of his beloved hangs in balance with everyone wanting him dead or alive. Who will rise supreme in the gang war between Shankar and Nagrajan?
