Carl S. Haught grew up with a love for poetry and literature, and that love continues today. Carl has written numerous poems and short stories, and Callie the Cat and the Caterpillar is his second children’s book. He was born into a family of writers and avid readers in a small town in West Virginia, where he lived until moving to California after retirement.
Carl is now a quadriplegic with limited use of his hands due to an unfortunate accident, but he has continued to write and enjoy poetry in the Continuing Care Facility where he lives, in spite of his disability. He has also established a poetry appreciation group that meets weekly at the facility. It’s attended by several residents who enjoy the literary life along with him.
Carl has been a positive influence to everyone he comes in contact with. Despite his disabilities he is a shining example of fortitude and love. As you watch this please remember, it’s not what happens to you in life but how you persevere through it.
