0:00 Hi Im Katie with Care.com and as part of our D-I-Y easy Halloween costume series, were going to make a popcorn box costume. Chase, are you ready to be popcorn?\r
\r
0:12 Uh huh\r
\r
0:20 Were going to start with a white paper box, cardboard box, and we taped this up but we left the bottom open. And now were going to trace the head. So I take a paper or plastic plate and youre going to take a pen and just trace the outline right in the middle here.\r
\r
0:44 For the arm holes youll just want to make sure theyre even on both sides. And this one happens to be 8 inches by 5 inches, and I started it about 2 and a half inches down from the top. And well cut these out with a box cutter. Doesnt have to be perfect. And there you go.\r
\r
1:13 Ok so now were done cutting out the holes and it should look like this -- 2 holes on the side and a nice big head hole up at top. And weve cut out the flaps at the bottom as well. For the interest of time Im just going to use some white duct tape to cover this up but you could also use paint. \r
\r
1:32 So we just finished covering this whole side with white tape. And just to make it easier on me I just cover the entire thing. And this is your standard 17 by 17 by 16 sized mailer box. \r
\r
1:50 The front will probably use about 5 red stripes while the sides will use about 4. And you can just eyeball it -- should be an inch and a half apart. And youll want to do this to all sides of the box. \r
\r
2:12 So now Im going to show you how to make the popcorn. Youre going to take yellow tissue paper, crumble it up into a ball with a little fluff on the top, take your glue gun and were actually ready to stick the last piece on. Cover your spot with glue and there you go. Press down and youve got your box of popcorn. We have about 25 on this piece, so it looks nice and full. \r
\r
2:46 Ok so for the last step of the project were going to print out the label. So just taking some double stick tape, and I found this graphic online, and tape it all over. You really can just stick it right in the center, smooth it out. For the rest of the costume just dress your child in red from head to toe.\r
\r
3:19 Thanks so much for watching our series on easy, D-I-Y Halloween costumes. Can we say happy Halloween to everybody out there?\r
\r
3:27 Happy Halloween.\r
\r
3:28 Happy Halloween. We need some candy.
