RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif today (Saturday) called on Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani.

Both discussed matters of regional security, Pak-Iran relations, border security and connectivity, DG ISPR Lt Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa said.
On the occasion, the Iranian President paid rich tributes to professionalism of Pak Army and lauded its phenomenal achievements in operation Zarb-e-Azb.

The Army Chief also highlighted challenges being faced by Pakistan and discussed involvement of India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) intelligence agency in Pakistani’s internal affairs specially in Balochistan.

The meeting comes few days after Pakistan arrested an Indian intelligence officer from the southwestern Balochistan province for his involvement in "subversive activities" in the country. The Indian spy had sneaked into Balochistan through Iranian border.

The foreign ministry on Friday summoned the Indian High Commissioner in Islamabad to lodge a protest over the Indian officer’s illegal entry into Pakistan. It said the man was involved in violence in Balochistan province and the city of Karachi.

Vikas Swarup, Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesman, confirmed Pakistan raised the issue with the Indian envoy but denied the arrested man had any ties to the government, saying he was retired from the navy.

"The said individual has no link with Government since his premature retirement from Indian Navy," Swarup said. "We have sought consular access to him. India has no interest in interfering in internal matters of any country and firmly believes that a stable and peaceful Pakistan is in the interest of all in the region."

Earlier on Friday, Dunya News program “Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath” revealed that the arrested RAW agent used to run a secretive terrorist operation against Pakistan with millions of dollars, while sitting in a jewellery shop he had opened in Iranian city of Chabahar.

Dunya News’ senior anchor Kamran Khan further revealed that the RAW agent hails from Mumbai and possesses a passport registered under the name Hussain Mubarak Patel. His passport number is L9630722 that bears Iranian visa with April 16, 1970 mentioned as the date of birth.
