Unesco, the UN’s world heritage organisation, has adopted a controversial resolution that criticises Israeli actions around the Haram al-Sharif/Temple Mount complex in Jerusalem’s Old City – with Israel claiming it deletes Jewish ties to holy sites.
The report is the latest of several measures at UNESCO over decades that Israelis see as evidence of ingrained anti-Israel bias within the United Nations, where Israel and its allies are far outnumbered by Arab countries and their supporters.
10 countries voted in favor of the resolution, 8 abstained and one country was not present during the vote.
"This vote is the continuation of the absurd theater," said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier today.
