Speaking to The Washington Post’s Dan Lamothe Thursday, Groberg said that there’s a solemn responsibility associated with earning the medal. “I have not met, of the 76 (recipients) that are living, a single one of them that wants this medal.” Groberg continued, saying that the medal represents something bigger than himself and his accomplishments. “You do not wear the medal for fame. You do not wear the medal for money. You only wear the medal to represent this country and our military and the people who serve in our military and everybody else who supports them … It belongs to every single individual that serves our country and didn’t come home to their families.”
