Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin said theres no basis for the US to strengthen its military presence in Asia.\r

Liu said, The modernization of our national defense forces suit Chinas objective needs of development and security. It is an active factor of promoting peace and stability in the region and does not present a threat to any country.\r

Liu stated the United States has mistaken Chinas military efforts for regional stability and security.\r

In recent years, the regimes increasing military strength has caused concern for the US. The regimes aggressive stance in the on-going South China Sea claims has also alarmed Asian neighbors.\r

The Chinese regime dismissed Philippines accusations that three Chinese vessels were found in the Philippine waters.\r
\r
Liu said, China has indisputable sovereignty over the Spratly islands and its surrounding waters. China doesnt accept the Philippines unreasonable accusations. We hope the Philippines will not provoke trouble and make disturbances, but should do more things to help maintain the peace and stability in the South China Sea.\r
