You may have heard of super long novels counted by the number of words, but one Egyptian man has come up with a new metric to achieve the title of the worlds longest book. Saad Mohammed, a resident of the small village of Belqina north of Cairo, presented his hand-painted version of Koran, which he believes to be the longest edition of the holy book in the world.

The 58-years old did not complete his school education, but is highly skilled at drawing and calligraphy. It took him three years to write and decorate his homemade Koran, which measures in at just under 2,300 feet long. Readers of Saad's hand-painted Koran wind the single piece of parchment up and down to read the scroll. Along with this lengthy masterpiece, Saad also has been transcribing other holy texts.

The artist expressed his wishes that the paper would eventually be rolled and unfurled using an electric gear at some point. Saad's ultimate goal is to get his work into the Guinness Book of World Records. Do you think he has a shot?
