Ever wondered what happens when a Trains Locomotive fails in the middle of its Journey and the train is left stranded ? Locomotives hauling Trains usually follow a Roster as to how many trips or cycles they are suppose to work and after completion the Locomotives return to their Home Shed for check ups , maintenance and minor repairs. At times the Locomotives fail unexpectedly. The Loco Pilots are given enough Training to Troubleshoot basic Problems in such events when all attempts are unsuccessful the Loco Pilots inform to the nearest Station Master from where a Rescue Locomotive is arranged. In most cases the Locomotives dont abruptly fail how ever when the Loco Pilots sense some abnormalities or some sort of a snag they stop the train at the immediate station in order to keep the main line free from blocking the traffic. The wait for a rescue Locomotives may take several hours depending on the place of break down and the distance to the close by station where spare Locomotives are available. If its a remote location then the wait may get really long and in worst case scenario a freight train gets suspended from Operations and the Loco of a Freight train is pressed to rescue the Train as Passenger Trains have higher Priority than Freight Trains.\r
