A Siberian cold front continues to stretch across parts of Europe, causing travel disruptions and even claiming more than 50 lives.
The icy blizzard, the coldest to sweep Europe in almost a decade, has forced airports in Scotland, Switzerland, France and Ireland to close.
Switzerland is among the worst hit, with the mercury dropping to nearly minus 40 degrees Celsius.
Hundreds of motorists across the continent were also left stranded Thursday on snowy highways.
The deep freeze is expected to continue as weather authorities forecast a new icy storm, with 100 kilometer-per-hour winds, will fall on Ireland, southwestern England and Wales later Thursday.
