Tamil Nadu police detained two accused for vandalising a statue of former social reformer and Tamil Nadu icon Periyar’s statue located inside the Tirupattur corporation office in Vellore on Tuesday. The nose and glasses of the statue were broken in the incident. The incident comes a day after Left revolutionary leader Vladimir Lenin’s statue was razed allegedly by BJP supporters in Tripura.
