New Hampshire last month, breaking the North American record for heaviest pumpkin. Gettes also scored a first place ribbon and $6000
in prize money. His pumpkin breaks previous weight records, which were set in Rhode Island, Wisconsin and California. Pumpkins may have originated in the United States, but it's Belgium that grew the largest one ever. The European nation's world record-breaking vegetable weighs 2,624 pounds and was produced back in October 2016.
