ISLAMABAD: The larger bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan will hear the case of Model Town carnage in which 14 people were killed in 2014, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

The bench comprises Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, Justice Azmat Saeed, Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Mazhar Alam Mian.

As many as 146 persons including former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, former chief minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif, Rana Sanaullah, Khawaja Asif and Chaudhry Nisar have been served notices in the case.

The Supreme Court on Nov 19 had ordered constitution of a five-member larger bench to hear a petition seeking new joint investigation team (JIT) to probe the Model Town incident.

The apex court had taken notice of the plea of Bisma Amjad, the daughter of Tanzila Amjad who was among those martyred in the Model Town firing incident, on October 6, seeking formation of new investigation team to probe the carnage.

The court, while accepting the petition, had issued notices to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif in the case, as were been made respondents by the petitioner.
