Govts Dwadashi fasting is celebrated on the Krishna Paksha of Kartik month, just one day before Dhanteras. This year, this festival will be celebrated on November 12, 2020. Cows and their calves are served on this day. If cow and calf are not found around the house, then cow and calf are made and worshiped with pure wet soil. Use of food items made from cow's milk is considered taboo in this fast. The deity of Shri Vishnu remains always on those who protect and worship cows in Kartik month, beloved of the gods.

गोवत्स द्वादशी व्रत कार्तिक माह की कृष्ण पक्ष की द्वादशी को धनतेरस से ठीक एक दिन पहले मनाया मनाया जाता है। इस वर्ष यह पर्व 12 नवंबर, 2020 को मनाया जाएगा। इस दिन गायों तथा उनके बछड़ों की सेवा की जाती है। यदि घर के आसपास गाय और बछड़ा नहीं मिले तब शुद्ध गीली मिट्टी से गाय तथा बछडे़ को बनाकर उनकी पूजा कि जाती है। इस व्रत में गाय के दूध से बनी खाद्य वस्तुओं का उपयोग वर्जित माना गया है। देवताओं के प्रिय कार्तिक मास में गौ की रक्षा एवं पूजन करने वालों पर सदैव श्री विष्णु की कृपा बनी रहती है।
