미 코로나 확진 1천900만명 넘어…12월 사망 6만3천명으로 최대
The United States surpassed 19 million COVID-19 cases on Sunday, with over one million infections added in less than a week.
The country now accounts for more than 23-percent of total global cases, and nearly 19-percent of the worldwide death tally with at least 332-thousand deaths.
The U.S. has also witnessed the highest figure for monthly deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic.
According to data from Johns Hopkins University, more than 63-thousand deaths were recorded in December alone.
This grim death toll is 1-point-7 times higher than the previous month which recorded almost 37-thousand deaths.
