Penalty Against Zee News Not Proportionate to Violations, Says Activist Who Filed Complaint

The News Broadcasting and Digital Standards Authority (NBDSA) has ordered Zee News to take down three programmes on farmers' protest, aired on 19 January, 20 January, and 26 January. The action was taken after a complaint was filed by engineer-activist Indrajeet Ghorpade against the channel for misreporting and peddling fake news. In a conversation with The Quint, Ghorpade says that merely deleting the videos won't undo the damage. He further adds that the least Zee News should do is air a proper clarification.
