Young people who lack the basics,
Boast of being in Cyprus,
Unaware of old rock bands and Kerouac,
No watches, dressed simply in black.

They ponder,
Why am I not married yet?
When it's easier to have ten kids,
And burden someone else's neck.
Complaining about their poverty,
They fail to see life's true beauty.

But you, like the rest,
Untouched by life's test,
Hands uncluttered, ears intact,
Just another cog in the corporate pact.

So indeed, it's easier,
To remain part of the herd forever.
Even if you gain two,
Within your self-prescribed view.

And young people who lack the basics,
Boast of being in Spain, a misplaced fix.
Unaware of old rock bands and such,
No watches, dressed simply, not much.

They ponder,
My life is strange,
Madness, infernality,
Women's fragrances, too difficult to arrange.

At twenty years old,
Life's true essence unfolds,
How can you understand,
When you're almost thirty, unplanned?

Banality,
I would never trade,
Corporate boredom and masquerade,
For your perceived freedom's trade.

There are things more significant,
Than foolishly mimicking your grandparent.
Hence, we tread not the Broadway path,
With such disdain, we do not align.

But I know,
My life refuses to abide by laws,
Satan, not easily bought,
By moralists' empty applause.

So indeed, it's easier,
To remain part of the herd forever.
Even if you gain two,
Within your self-prescribed view.

But you, like the rest,
Untouched by life's test,
Hands uncluttered, ears intact,
Just another cog in the corporate pact.

The end.\n\nIhor Victor Adaškievic
