Member of the Co-ordination Committee of the MQM Mr Waseem Aftab held separate meetings with the administrator of Madrasa Jamia Binoria SITE Mufti Muhammad Naeem, andwell-known Shia scholars Allama Talib Jauhari and Allama Furqan Haider Abidi in view of the deteriorating law and order situation in Karachi. He conveyed to them the message from Mr Altaf Hussain.
The religious scholars deplored the surge of sectarian violence in the city and expressed sympathies on the killing of innocent people. They said that the elements involved in slaying innocent people were not worthy of being called human beings let alone Muslims. They said that there was no compulsion in Islam, and it was the religion of peace and tranquillity. They said that Islam teaches us to show respect to the followers of all other religions.
They said that Altaf Hussain was the only leader in the country who was working for religious tolerance in Karachi and the rest of the country. They appealed to the citizens to play their role for eliminating terrorism from the city and restoring peace.
Mr Aftab said that the MQM was actively working against the scourge of sectarianism in Karachi and Mr Hussain had always talked about spreading peace. He said that the killing of innocent people was unfortunate.
