Action for Children (previously known until 2008 as NCH National Childrens Home) is one of the largest childrens charities in the UK, and has been in operation since 1869. <br /><br />We are the leaders in providing services, and campaigning for children, young people and their families in the UK, operating in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and additionally support work in Southern Africa, the Caribbean and Central America. Our main 4 areas of work are; <br />- Family support at critical times <br />- Vulnerable young people <br />- Children in care <br />- Disabled children <br /><br />We run 420 services across the UK, reaching nearly 156,000 of the most vulnerable and neglected children, young people and their families. We provide services in partnership with local authorities and government bodies, including children centres, disability and resident services, and projects working with families. We also run several specialist schools, and provide fostering and adoption services.
