This project explores an 'alternate reality' where The Beatles, the greatest and most influential act of the rock era and Fela Kuti, The King of Afro Beat, meet and decide to form a group, The AfroBeatles. While the idea may seem absurd, or incongruous, the mash-ups you are about to experience suggest otherwise: While we may be Black & White, African & European, With and Without, we are all human, and that inescapable conclusion will force us to rationalize the divide we have artificially placed between our varied nations. Using Beatles' releases and Historical Events as the real-world backbone to our "What If?" scenario, we align songs with similar and contrasting meanings to a pop-culture narrative critiquing the race myth.
